 Overview

The University of Washington Bothell (UW Bothell) is one of three University of Washington campuses (along with the original campus in Seattle and the University of Washington Tacoma). UW Bothell is a dynamic, rapidly growing center of innovative learning in the high-tech corridor of north Puget Sound.

Founded in 1990, UW Bothell was created to bring the world-renowned University of Washington traditions of academic excellence to residents of the greater metropolitan area, and to be a catalyst for creativity in one of the most dynamic regions of the United States.

The campus now enrolls a diverse population of over 4,100 students with anticipated growth to 7,000, employs 171 full-time Faculty, approximately 270 staff, and offers over 30 programs of study leading to undergraduate and graduate degrees. Located 18 miles northeast of Seattle, the university is dedicated to interdisciplinary and innovative teaching, scholarship, and research and is committed to engaging the regional business and technology sectors in mutually beneficial partnerships.

The Position

Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Administration and Planning, the Director of Auxiliary Services will be responsible for directing the activities and personnel related to a variety of enterprises and some programs in cooperation with and on behalf of Cascadia Community College (CCC).  CCC is co-located on the same campus and shares some auxiliary services directed by this position.  Auxiliary Services supports our campus learning community by providing services including Student Housing, Commuter Services (Transportation and Parking), Food Services, Facilities Use and Events, Vending and the projected addition of Conference Services.  Each of these programs have different operating, maintenance, facilities, and financial profiles related to cash flow, capital requirements, and risk.  All are expected to grow with the campus and require ongoing planning, marketing and renewal.  This position will involve working closely with a financial management staff to develop financial pro forma, operations and business plans, and to closely track financial performance to minimize institutional risk.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management or equivalent. A minimum of six years of supervisory/leadership experience in auxiliary services operations and financial management or a closely related field, and a track record of fostering diversity in the workplace and creating a positive work environment supportive of professional development. Be resourceful and have a high degree of flexibility as well as problem solving and strategic planning ability.  Demonstrated experience in strategic visioning.  Strong skills in financial management, planning, and operations analysis.
